Catalogue “ON BEING A CINEMATOGRAPHER AND A PAINTER ”
For many years I wanted to keep my painter’s life and my life in the movies totally separate. I could say that I was painting “consciously” against my work as a cinematographer. In a way, when I was working on a movie, I always felt unable to express enough of my artistic ideas. When you have to deal with so many egos trying to work together, and you make so many images in one day on a film, it’s hard to create a shot that people are interested in looking at for longer than two seconds.
